Annual Hoco Tailgate: Food, Friends, & Fun

Writer: Guest ContributorGuest Contributor

On Friday October 18th, Columbus High held their annual tailgate for their Homecoming football game against Kendrick High.

“A tailgate is like a hype party to get ready for the game! You know, get some good food, hangout with your friends, get some time to hype up and be ready for the football game.” stated Iffah Merchant (12).

At the tailgate there was food, music, and fun activities provided by CHS staff and students.

Roohe Khan (11) said “I'm really enjoying the tailgate because I get to hang out with all my friends and the food is pretty good and the badminton was really fun!”

“Music? Fire! Food? Fire! Hoco football game? Fire!” remarked Remmi Stewart (10).

“I'm really enjoying the tailgate so far! I think it's really fun and a nice thing for the teachers to do for us because they got food and water for free. And it's a good way to hang out with your friends before the game.” stated Jalisa Son (11).

Organizers of the event also had positive things to say about the tailgate.

Ms. Schwarting, one of the teachers overseeing the event, stated “I love that we have a lot of freshmen show up, we did not have that last year. And it does seem like a lot of them are coming!”

“I’m on Blue Brigade so I decided to help out with the tailgate today. It's pretty fun! There’s a lot of good food here.” said Ari Demaris (12)

Madeline Park (12) said, “I am actually enjoying this more than I thought I would. I am really glad that kids are actually showing up, it’s making me happy!”

If you missed the tailgate this school year, make plans to come out and join in on the fun next year!
