On April 16th, the Columbus High Track and Field competed in the City Championship, claiming second place.
The City Championship was held at Kinnett Stadium with CHS competing against seven other high schools.
In the track events, Columbus High finished with six, winning placements in the 300m hurdles, 100m, 800m, boys 4x400, boys 4x800and 300m hurdles.
Additionally, CHS ended with seven different runner up placements in the 1600m, 3200m, girls 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800, and 110m hurdles.
CHS placed first in five field events- girl's high jump, girls and boy's pole vault, and both girl's and boy's discus. Along with runner-ups in the girl's pole vault, high jump, and triple jump.
Ultimately, the girl's team finished with a total of 182 points and the boys finished with 137 points.
"It was awesome, receiving silver was an achievement that the beginning of the season could not have foretold,"
remarked Megan Taylor. While silver isn't gold, it was a great way to end the regular season.
The track team has upcoming region meets next week on April 17th and 29th.
