Mrs. Wendy Henderson has joined the Columbus High School faculty as the new magnet director.

Previously, the magnet director was Mrs. Hood, who now teaches Comparative Religions and AP World History. Mrs. Hood worked as the magnet director for two years.

“The magnet director supports students and teachers with things that pertain to the magnet program,” said Mrs. Henderson.

She added that organizing field trips and community service are “big ticket items” among her responsibilities.

Mrs. Henderson has been active with her duties as magnet director, as the freshmen recently took a field trip to the Springer Opera House and Columbus High students have been involved in the community with Fall Community Service.

Prior to coming to Columbus High, Mrs. Henderson worked as a classroom teacher for seventeen years and as an academic coach at Carver for nine years. As an academic coach, she was responsible for providing teachers support in math and science.

The CHS family warmly welcomes Mrs. Henderson as she works to support the CHS liberal arts magnet program.
